Canadia

Published by Jooree under Canadia

So, I’ve always been getting questions about Montreal and Canadia in general from my los angelitos friends back home. “How is it like?” “are the people nice?” “Is it cold”?

So

 1) Yes people it is cold. I think the weather I am facing now is the coldest that I have ever lived. And we’re not counting the winter I faced when I was 1 in Korea, because my memory fails me.

Today’s weather: 46 deg F, or 8 deg C for the rest of the world. Give me a break, lord it’s cold!

2) The people are suprisingly nice, with the exception of our goddamn @#$%^ neighbor who insists on playing video games at top volume in the middle of the night (I would not have minded if it was an interesting video game, say……Final Fantasy which is the most awesome video game ever! But it’s a stupid car racing game so I have dreams of me being chased by cars)

3) So far the only person who pissed me off was a guy from LA, go figure

4) I’ve invested into a lot more cultural events here, such as movies, museums, etc. It’s probably because I’m running up the miles on my student id.

5) I adore, simply adore, the billingualism here. Where else can you switch from French to English without any difficulty? And the person understands you! It’s so great.

6) Cheap housing. If there is one reason to come here, cheap housing would be it. I mean I have a one bedroom for $460/month! And it’s big, mind you.

7) Recyclage. Montrealians love to recycle. Everything is recycled here. And you actually see people scoop up their dog poop! so not french-like. (If you have no idea how bad the poop situation is in France, check this out)

That’s all for now, pictures of the Chinese Lantern Festival will be out next…
