| Currently Playing Secretary (Music from the Motion Picture) By Various Artists, Angelo Badalamenti, Lizzie West Chariot’s Rise see related |
SO………..
I re-watched “Secretary”. If you haven’t watched it, its about a girl, played by the amazing
Maggie Gyllenhaal, who is lost in the world. She works for a lawyer, played by the amazing James Spader, and realizes that she loves his control, while he loves to control her. It becomes a SDM relationship, and while the actions seem a bit out of the norm, the love and painful feelings are very real as these two lost characters fall in love, and find each other.
Basically in the last scene, he’s softly bathing her, and this amazing song, ‘Chariots Rise’ by Lizzie West comes on. Then she speaks saying, “Each cut, each scar, each burn, a different mood or time. I told him what the first one was, told him where the second one came from. I remembered them all. And for the first time in my life I felt beautiful”.
So whats the point of all of this? Well, Valentine’s day came and went. It seems like every other day, except I buy myself chocolate around this time, and eat the whole box like those depressed, thirtysomething women. Somehow, on my grocery run, I decided not to be like those depressed, thirtysomething women. It seems so…..repetitive and time-consuming to sit there and wait for the perfect man to drop by. I’ve realized that relationships are draining, but what worst is trying to start something. The apprehension, the butterflies, the everything is what makes this all not worth the wait. Everyone in LA sits in their own content bubble, as they yak aimlessly on their cell phones about who hooked up with whom, and who broke up with whom. We’re all alone, yet we continue to stall in our bubble, resisting any sort of contact. We all strain to “fill the hole”, but yet we don’t do anything about it. So we continue to sit and drown our sorrows in pints of cherry garcia, and wait for love.
Love…..it holds us together, yet keeps us all apart….
So what am I going to do? I’m going to sit here in my bubble, and strain through the film, and maybe find somebody else in their bubble, waiting just like me. Who knows, maybe we’ll all break out of bubble someday.

Stupid useless story of the week (yes there are two categories)
Barbie and Ken ‘Split’ After 43 Years
Just like J.Lo and Ben, the romance is over for Barbie and Ken. After 43 years as one of the world’s prettiest pairs, the perfect plastic couple is breaking up. The couple’s “business manager,” Russell Arons, vice president of marketing at Mattel, said that Barbie and Ken “feel it’s time to spend some quality time apart.”
“Like other celebrity couples, their Hollywood romance has come to an end,” said Arons, who quickly added that the duo “will remain friends.”
Truth be told, the announcement was prompted by the fact that Mattel is releasing the Cali (as in California) Girl Barbie, arriving in stores now. Ken will still be in the picture only now he’s “just a friend,” Mattel claims.
Whatever. The important news is that to better reflect her single status, Cali Barbie will wear board shorts and a bikini top, metal hoop earrings, and have a deeper tan.
This new style already has attracted a new admirer, Blaine the Australian boogie boarder.
Barbie the most popular fashion doll in the world, according to Mattel met Ken on the set of a TV commercial in 1961, and they have been inseparable ever since.
Arons hinted Wednesday that the separation may be partially due to Ken’s reluctance to getting married. All those bridal Barbie dolls in toy chests around the globe are really just examples of Barbie’s wishful thinking, she explained.
Another possible factor is Barbie’s career. The doll who was “born” Barbie Millicent Roberts in 1959 has been everything from a rock star to military medic, and she’s currently marketed in more than 150 countries. According to Mattel, every second, three Barbie dolls are sold somewhere in the world.
So where does that leave Ken? Said Arons: “He will head for other waves.”
My thoughts on this :
1) huh?
2) There’s a history to these damn dolls?

LONDON (Reuters) - The Three Wise Men who followed the star to Bethlehem bearing gifts for the baby Jesus may not have been all that wise — or even men.
The traditional infant Nativity play scene could be in for a drastic rewrite after the Church of England indulged in some academic gender-swapping over the three Magi at its General Synod in London this week.
A committee revising the latest prayer book said the term “Magi” was a transliteration of the name used by officials at the Persian court, and that they could well have been women.
“Magi is a word which discloses nothing about numbers, wisdom or gender embodied in the term,” a Synod spokesman said on Tuesday after the revision was agreed by the Church of England’s parliament which meets twice a year.
In the authorized 17th century King James bible used by up to 70 million worshippers in Anglican churches around the world, the gift-bearing visitors are referred to as “The Three Wise Men.”
Now they are to be called just “Magi” and no longer gender-specific in the Anglican prayer book.
“Changing ‘Wise Men’ to ‘Magi’ seems to be an entirely sensible move,” the Synod spokesman said.
The revision committee said: “While it seems very unlikely that these Persian court officials were female, the possibility that one or more of the Magi were female cannot be excluded completely.”
There is no theological dispute about the gifts they brought — gold, frankincense and myrrh — but the prayer has been changed to use the word Magi on the grounds that “the visitors were not necessarily wise and not necessarily men.”
Synod officials denied that the Church of England, a pillar of the Establishment in Britain, was being seized by an attack of political correctness and pandering to feminists.
The decision was greeted by mocking newspaper headlines like “The Three Fairly Sagacious Persons” and “Is it unwise to call the Magi men?”
On Tuesday, the Synod will be turning its attention to “Gender Neutral Titles.”
Anglicans are debating whether words like “Chairman” can be replaced at committee meetings by more neutral words like “Chair.”
