Stupid story of the week

Microsoft Takes on Teen Over Web Site

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Mike Rowe thinks it’s funny that his catchy name for a Web site design company sounds a lot like Microsoft.
The software giant, however, is not amused.
“Since my name is Mike Rowe, I thought it would be funny to add ’soft’ to the end of it,” said Rowe, a 17-year-old computer geek and Grade 12 student in Victoria, British Columbia.
Microsoft Corp. and its attorneys have demanded that he give up his domain name, the Vancouver Province newspaper reported Sunday. Rowe registered the name in August. In November, he received a letter from Microsoft’s Canadian lawyers, Smart & Biggar, informing him he was committing copyright infringement. He was advised to transfer the name to the Redmond, Wash.-based corporation. “I didn’t think they would get all their high-priced lawyers to come after me,” Rowe said.
He wrote back asking to be compensated for giving up his name. Microsoft’s lawyers offered him $10 in U.S. funds. Then he asked for $10,000.
On Thursday, he received a 25-page letter accusing him of trying to force Microsoft into giving him a large settlement.
“I never even thought of getting anything out of them,” he said, adding that he only asked for the $10,000 because he was “sort of mad at them for only offering 10 bucks.”
He said family and friends are backing him and a lawyer has offered to advise him for free. He’s also keeping his sense of humor. “It’s not their name. It’s my name. I just think it’s kind of funny that they’d go after a 17-year-old,” Rowe said.
Company spokesman Jim Desler said Sunday, “Microsoft has been in communication with Mr. Rowe in a good faith effort to reach a mutually agreeable resolution. And we remain hopeful we can resolve this issue to everyone’s satisfaction

The L-word

Published by aram under TV

OK…….please give me a minute while I stand on my soapbox and proclaim the best new television series on right now…..

The “L” Word is brilliant! Not only are the women damn hot on it, but the story just sucks you in, as you are a part of their raw, emotional lives, as they go through heart break, love, fleeting glances, work, decisions, life, and some damn ass good love scenes. It’s so passionate and wonderful……and sighs……

Go watch it……..

I’ve decided to put in a mood indicator…..of course if you know me, it varies immensely throughout the day….so it is only indicative of how I am feeling at the exact moment I am zangaing…

So with that……….I give you this…

Mood: life is good…….

Ever been on the cusp of something that great or horrible?

I’m doing a fine balancing act……and enjoying every minute of it.

“What is she blabbing about?” you might say…….

Lets just say it involves the opposite sex……..and the great unknown…..

Isn’t life wonderful??

Anyways, I moved in this weekend to my new house. It was…….stressful…..but the end product was great. Well……of course it didn’t help that everyone was yelling at me….and I was getting increasingly irritated….that the “fuck you and everyone of you” phrase came into mind a lot…

But…all bad things aside, I managed to have a productive conversation with my mom….in which she actually admitted that she had been suffocating me! Shocked? Yes I was. So….after that she agreed that if I moved back home, she would ban curfews from my vocabulary. I still don’t quite believe it……..but I’ll take her word for it.

So am I totally free? of course not……but this is a rather giant step for my parents…..and I am only happy to tag along with them……..

If you don’t know me well enough by now, I am one of the biggest Law and Order freak there is out there (even though sher-ling might trump me). I currently watch all three shows AND i watch the re-runs whenever I can on cable. It is by the most well-written, drama inducing, thought-provoking, emotion draining show on TV now and ever! Why the sudden effusive praise? I just almost orgasmed off an episode tonight. I don’t care how sad or pathetic I sound right now because I LOVE LAW AND ORDER!

Ah-hem…….anyways….I’m done. I swear for now…..hee hee

(humms theme tune)

BTW: What are any other good Oasis songs?
