Spring Break recap
Spring Break recap…..
Oddly it started and ended with Mike Park. Gawd, have I sunk so far? (ha ha jk mp)
It began Sunday with the Pianist, then onto the Tuesday with Adaptation (read my posts on them below!)
Monday was a mall day with Jullie as I saw 50 things I wanted! (I need to go shopping)
The Wednesday was Spaz’s day. (there was SOME drama, but as usual we got through it RIGHT SPAZ?) We went bowling (I bowled a 55! BOO!) then eat crazy lot at gil mook (I bow down to the person who invented kalbi and bulgogi) Then we had the cake I made her (ha ha watch out martha stewart!) and ended the day happily (oh except for vivian and jullie who had their cars locked in the parking lock ugh retarded security guards)
Then the great day at the Getty. Everytime I go to the Getty, I can never get over the awe of it. It was a gorgeous sunny day as we stepped out of the tram.
Poor Sher-ling. She got worn out around the Decorative Arts circa 1750-1800’s. I dragged her to a couple more buildings until we finally went to the exhibit I was waiting for: Bill Viola The Passions.
The exhibit was amazing. There were LCD projections of actors showing different emotions of sadness, anger, worry, and contemplation. The crisp images only served to enhance the visuals and then I knew I saw the future of art. The way Viola took Renaissance influcenes gave an insight on how these old paintings might have come to life.
After the museum, it was still an impossibly gorgeous day, so we hit the road to beach, which was very windy. There we both stripped to our underwear and jumped into the water! (all her idea I swear!) It felt good to have the waves swirl at my feet and the surf was high as each breathtaking wave forced me to flee. Sher was a bit wiser and put her pants on, thus saving her legs from the sand storm. I, however, unwisely took longer and was blessed with a multitude of scratches at the end. Then the cute lifeguard waved hello to me and I knew what a great day it was.
Well almost, as I went home and got a ticket for speeding. Yes thats right ladies and gentlemen, my reckless driving has finally gotten me into trouble. But for 82 mph???? SIgh…….oh well better then getting caught at 95 mph, my normal speed.
Thursday night and Friday morning were devoted to funerals. I’ve never liked them, but I knew the guy’s father and seeing that I had time, I went. (Besides my grandmother’s nagging helped too) So I went to the memorial and the funeral. It was the funeral that got to me though. The guy was only 55 and he had to leave his family behind, missing out on graduations, weddings, grandkids, retirements, anniversaries, etc. It just remineded me how my parents could easily leave like he did. Morality has never been an issue with me because i’m 19. I think I can live forever. However, the funeral did help me open my eyes on how lives can be short-lived.
Saturday was the big day as I got into a very RARE cooking mood. I invited my whole youth to dinner, but neglected to see that 25 PEOPLE would show up. I was in a cooking frenzy, cooking the chicken, making sure there was enough food, people had stuff to drink, etc. Playing hostess seemed to be my element though, as I enjoyed each minute. (AHH I’m turning into my mom!!!) The day ended with me, pastor mike, jean, doug, thomas, and mike park baking cupcakes after cupcakes. I swear we made thousands but in the end we baked about 100.
Sunday was the car wash/bake sale/yard sale as I woke up at 8:00 (UGHH I didn’t even know the sun was up at 8!) The day was a whirlwind as I strutted around in a pair of shorts and tube top, attracting the guys. (ha ha hey it worked we made about $400!) The day ended with the worst sunburn for me (ughh shoulder pain)
Then I spent some time with Sandy and Mike Park as we just went to go eat and have ice cream, listening to Mike Park’s theories about life (which was like an hour worth to listen to ha ha)
Gosh, I’m never ever writing this long again……..
PS: get well hunter!
